Description
The 1912 assessment of Dana Incorporated: printed cover of the loose Recapitulation book ("to be filed with Town Clerk"), assessor's ledger pages 1, 2, 3 and 5, the New Buildings page and two Recapitulation spreads. The ledger lists 73 assessment-roll entries, alphabetically, with each owner's post office, polls, dogs, moneys and credits, livestock, merchandise, bank and corporation stock, and buildings on leased land. Page 4 was not photographed, but the alphabetical sequence runs unbroken from page 3 (Patrick) to page 5 (Peacock) and all roll numbers 1-73 appear, so it was probably left blank. Businesses assessed include the Bank of Dana, Dana Jack Co., Brenton McCall Co. [?], C. A. Swanson & Co. and the Western Elevator Co. of Winona, Minn. New buildings for 1912: H. E. Moranville (Dana 2nd Add.) and F. P. Brown (Lot 9, Blk 2, Rowles Add.). Soldiers' exemptions are shown for R. G. Martin, Luther D. Ferguson and Henry Infield, and a widow's exemption for Mrs. David [?] Schnepf [?]. The text indexes names only; values are in the images. Found loose with the Dana Council minutes book (record book of 1912 onward) at City Hall.
